George E. Windon, Sr., 79 of Felton passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Wellspan York Hospital. He was the husband of Nellie M. (Jourdan) Windon with whom he shared 42 years together. Born in Airville, he was a son of the late Clarence J. and India (Mitchell) Windon. George worked for Caterpillar of York for over 30 years as a test stand operator and machinist. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, enjoyed music especially bluegrass and was an avid hunter and fisherman. George served in the US Army during Vietnam and loved spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Nellie, he is survived by two sons George E. Windon, Jr. and wife Paula of Dover and Charles D. Woods and wife Sherrie of Felton; four grandchildren Cindy Marie Windon, Haley Elizabeth Windon, Odin Matthew Woods and Mya Elizabeth Woods; two brothers John Windon of Red Lion and Larry Windon and wife Linda of Marion, SC. George was preceded in death by nine siblings Clarence “Jen” Windon, Robert “Jack” Windon, Charlotte Carter, Mary Lee, Ethel Cox, Jean Grove, Ann Dennis, Katherine Hammers and James C. Windon. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 10AM from Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St. Stewartstown with Pastor Rodney T. Stamper officiating. Interment will be held in Chanceford Presbyterian Cemetery, Airville with Military Honors rendered by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.Viewings will be held Wednesday evening from 7-9pm at the funeral home and also Thursday morning from 9am until the time of his service at the funeral home.
