Gilbert A. Trout, 91, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Rest Haven. He was the loving husband of Jean L. (Stermer) Trout and they were married 63 years in February. Born in New Freedom on September 11, 1929, Gil was the son of the late C.R. (Jack) and C. Erline (Bond) Trout. Gil was a tool and die maker and an Engineering Supervisor at AMP, retiring after 31 years of service. A graduate of the New Freedom High School Class of 1947, he was also an avid tennis player. Many will remember him for his quick wit, kind words, jokes, stories and songs. Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Jacqueline Shaffer and her husband, Mervin of York Haven, Terry Trout and his wife, Pamela of Denton, TX, Kathy Greenawalt of Red Lion, and Deborah Grove and her husband, Todd of Glen Rock; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Gil was preceded in death by a son, Barry Trout, and a brother, Jack Trout. Memorial contributions can be made to Rest Haven – York, 1050 S.
