Gladys “Ruth” Jeremiah, 91, formerly of Springfield, VA died Saturday, August 21, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband James W. “Jerry” Jeremiah whom she married on October 3, 1953. Born June 1, 1930, in Fulton, NY Ruth was the daughter of the late Francis T. and Gladys (Stoddard) Buell. Ruth’s husband Jerry was a retired Air Force Lt. Col. and worked for the US Federal government which required living around the country and oversees which she enjoyed immensely. Wherever she lived Ruth enjoyed the Garden Club, Bridge groups, playing golf, and volunteering with the Red Cross. A strong believer in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, she was very involved in any church she attended. Since moving to Pennsylvania, she has attended Stewartstown Presbyterian Church and Liberty Christian Fellowship in Seven Valleys. Ruth wintered in Cocoa Beach, Florida where she enjoyed the company of her children and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was devoted to her family and rarely missed a grandchild’s sporting event or activity. She will be dearly missed by her three sons Rev. Dr. Jeffrey J. Jeremiah and his wife Cindy of Seattle, WA, James B. Jeremiah and his wife DeeAnn of Middleburg, VA and William C. Jeremiah of Fairfax, VA; a daughter Debora J. Rowley and her husband Michael of Timonium, MD; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will have a service at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be to SpiriTrust Lutheran Village at Shrewsbury c/o Auxiliary of Lutheran Social Services, Shrewsbury Chapter, 200 Luther Road, Shrewsbury, PA 17361 in her memory.
