Glenda Elizabeth (Wertz) Chilcote, 75, entered into rest on Monday, September 5, 2016, at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle. She was the loving wife of Robert E. Chilcote for 55 years. A celebration of life will begin at 12 noon on Thursday, Sept. 8 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom with a viewing preceding the service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Danielle Neff will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. Glenda was born in York County on December 16, 1940, a daughter of the late Raymond and Marian (Hoffman) Wertz. She was a graduate of Central York High School. Glenda and her husband enjoyed traveling in their RV for 13 years and spent many winters in Florida before she was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2013. She worked in various accounting offices before retiring and was a member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in York. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Linda Kapp of Mechanicsburg, wife of Kirk Kapp and Diana Lofton of Hoschton, Ga. wife of Beau Lofton; two granddaughters, Stacey Kapp of Annapolis. Md. and Reyna Lofton of Hoschton, Ga.; her brother, William Wertz and his wife, Maria of Seattle, Wash.; and two nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Glenda's name may be made to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
