SHREWSBURY -
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gloria Ann Kidder Tauzin on June 29, 2024 of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania. Gloria was born on January 9, 1945 in Opelousas, Louisiana; she was the daughter of the late Wade J. Kidder and Sibyl M. Carriere Kidder. For the past 58 years she was the bride and best friend of Clarence (Clay) Tauzin, Jr. She is survived by her sons and their wives Jeffrey W. Tauzin and Terresa, Mark J. Tauzin and Laura, and Joshua A. Tauzin and Annie Embertson. Also surviving Gran, as her grandchildren called her, are Kylie Tauzin, Mason Tauzin, Rowan Tauzin, Asher Tauzin and Isabel (Izzy) Tauzin.
Gloria is also survived by her brother Gerald (Jerry) Kidder and his wife Katherine (Kathy) of Gainesville, Florida, brother-in-law Roland J. Tauzin and his wife Donna of Opelousas, Louisiana, sister-in-law Patricia (Pat) Masters and her husband Jerry of Shreveport, Louisiana as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gloria was the compassionate and loving leader of the Tauzin family. She always saw the better sides and strengths of her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren. She was a true believer in helping others and never hesitated to offer a hug or a helping hand.
Her compassionate and loving nature led her into many community endeavors like volunteering at the Southern York County Pantry, working with grief support organizations, especially within her church. She was an active and devout member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Freedom, Pennsylvania. She had been an active participant in St John’s Eucharistic Chapel worship since its inception and with the church’s youth ministry. At Christmas she would make wreaths to lay at the gravesites of deceased close friends.
Gloria enjoyed listening to books on her cell phone, watching “old” movies, and private worship at home.
Gloria’s family expresses their gratitude to the physicians, nurses and staff of the York Hospital Trauma Care Unit for their dedicated efforts to assist Gloria during her 12 hour struggle to overcome her injuries.
