Grace Irene Ellis

Grace Irene Ellis, 80, of New Freedom, PA, and formerly of Maryland passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024.  Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter to the late Howard and Mildred Ritenour. Grace was a devoted employee and department manager of Walmart Companies for 25+ years. She was an avid Orioles fan and loved going to games with her grandchildren. She also looked forward to her yearly trips to Memphis (Graceland) with her daughter and son-in-law and outings/cookouts with her son and family.

Grace is remembered and survived by two children, Penny Hendrix (Roland Schalker) and Robert Sparks (Lisa Ennis); five grandchildren, Zach, Brittany, Amanda, Peyton, and Spencer; and six great grandchildren. She shared a special bond with her grandchildren, including her great granddaughter and namesake, Grace, as well as her beloved niece, Zina Ambrose (Sonny). Grace was preceded in death by her five siblings, in addition to her parents.

There will be a public viewing from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 12:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
