Helen E. (Creager) Muhlbach, 87, formerly of Baltimore, Md., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2016. She was the beloved wife of J. Edward Muhlbach for 63 years. Helen was a loving mother to John Muhlbach and wife, Linda (Winegrad) of Huntersville, N.C., Christine Maloney and husband, Mike of Asheville, N.C., Betsy Singer and husband, Barry of Arlington, Mass., Michael Muhlbach and wife, Lisa (Earles) of Parkville, Md., Susan Muhlbach and husband, Batsukh Dorjbal of Washington, DC, and Amy Muhlbach and husband, Bob Lamb of Mt. Rainier, Md. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces; a nephew; great-nieces; and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Dorothy Creager, and a sister, Ruth D'Evelyn. Helen graduated from Columbia College for women in 1949. She was an active member of Holy Comforter Lutheran Church in Baltimore and a devoted member of the choir, as well as at St. John (Sadler's) Lutheran Church, Stewartstown, and St. Paul (Hametown) Lutheran Church, Glen Rock. She dedicated much of her time to volunteer work throughout her life, including at the Shrewsbury Public Library. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 9, at St. Paul (Hametown) Lutheran Church, 11894 Susquehanna Trail, Glen Rock, with burial to follow at Druid Ridge Cemetery, Baltimore, Md. Friends may call at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom 17349 on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Mar-Lu-Ridge Lutheran Camp and Conference Center, 3200 Mar-Lu-Ridge Road, Jefferson, MD 21755.
