Helen L. Wright

Helen L. (McWilliams) Wright, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Born in Shrewsbury Township, she was a daughter to the late George S. and Rosella E. (Lehman) McWilliams. She was the loving wife of 66 years to the late Charles “Sonny” Wright who passed in July 2017.

Helen grew up attending the one-room Waltemyer’s school house. She was a member of the Stewartstown Presbyterian Church and the Triangle Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked for Nardie’s Grocers in New Freedom for many years; she then went to work for AMP/TYCO from which she retired. Helen was an avid Orioles fan and also liked to play card games.

She is survived by her son, Todd Wright and his wife Patricia; two grandchildren, Emily Wright and her fiancé Daniel Retallick, and Matthew Wright and his wife Chiara Orsini; and a great-granddaughter, Noelle Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband Sonny, and three siblings, Sterling, Donald, and Ruth McWilliams.

In accordance with Helen’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Stewartstown Presbyterian Church or Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. 2nd St., New Freedom, PA 17349 is assisting the family with arrangements.
