On Wednesday, January 13, 2016, Hilda E. Hall Walton was called home by our Heavenly Father. "Miss Hilda" was born January 26, 1917, in Shane, Maryland, and would have been ninety-nine years old on her next birthday. She was the daughter of the late Ida L.B. Cordery Hall and J. Clarence Hall and the devoted wife of the late R. Kenneth Walton. Miss Hilda was preceded in death by all of her siblings and their spouses: Beulah Hall Amos (Henry), Viola Hall Johnson (Irving), Ruth Hall Johnson (Reed) and J. Melvin Hall (Elizabeth); one niece, Delores Amos; one nephew, Clifton R. Johnson; and grandson, Kenlin Cordery Walton. She is survived by her son, Ronald H. Walton (Helen); and daughter Hazel E. Walton; five grandchildren, Kimberly R. Walton, Barry K. Walton, Ronald H. W. Owens, Robert K. W. Owens and Bethany Williams Walton; nine great-grandchildren; four nieces, five nephews, their spouses and children; and a host of loving friends and remaining family. Miss Hilda was a loving mother who always placed her husband and children first. She was a faithful and hardworking member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 20105 Kirkwood Shop Road, White Hall, Md., until poor health prevented her participation. She then enjoyed many visits from her church family who provided Holy Communion, prayer, songs, and loving encouragement. She was a wonderful cook who could quickly pull a meal together whenever and for whoever was hungry. Mrs. Walton was a wise, insightful, and spiritual woman who met challenges head on. She had a favorite saying about hardship, strife and the power of faith and prayer, "If you can look up, you can get up!" To GOD Be The Glory. Visitation and services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 20105 Kirkwood Shop Road, White Hall, Md. Pastor Winifred Griffin will deliver the eulogy with Sister Catherine Rice officiating. Viewing is scheduled 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Going Home services will begin at 12 p.m. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, is assisting the family with arrangements.
