Irene M. (Tyson) Henry, 98, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Elwood C. Henry. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. – Noon on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The funeral service will begin at Noon Monday at the Funeral Home with the Rev. George M. Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at New Freedom Cemetery. Born June 16, 1919 in Shrewsbury, Irene was the daughter of the late John Henry and Marie B. (Winter) Tyson. She had been a member of the former Messiah Lutheran Church in Railroad, attending since she was 13 years old. Irene was a member of the church choir, a Sunday School Teacher and member of the Sunshine Sisters Group. She had been employed at the former Zupnick Sewing Factory & M & R Garment Co. in New Freedom, Anstine's Mfg. Co. in Railroad and Marcy's Mfg. Co. in York. Irene was a member of AARP, the Women's Auxiliary Rose Fire Co. and Shrewsbury Courtyard Residents Assoc. Irene is survived by two nephews, Jeffrey L. Hayes and his wife, Bonnie, Barry Hayes and his wife, Carol; two nieces, Nancy Krout and Vada Wales. She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Brodbeck.
