Jackie “Jack” Wineholt Diehl, 88, of Upperco, MD, passed on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Jack was the loving husband of Verna R. (Wilson) Diehl, sharing 68 years of marriage. Born in Parkton, MD, he was the son of the late Raymond M. and Lottie M. (Wilson) Diehl. He attended Sparks High School. Jack was a United States Navy Veteran, serving from 1955-1957. Prior to joining the Navy, Jack and his brother, Martin, were in the Maryland National Guard. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. as a Materials Handler after 25+ years of service. He was a proud member of UAW Local 786 and a longtime member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Never one to be idle, Jack kept very busy mowing lawns and other landscape maintenance, walking for miles on back country roads, and enjoyingtime with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Verna and his two nieces, Kimberly DiehlMartin and Cherie Diehl Meyer. Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Martin Diehl in 1997. Visitation for Relatives and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20th, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church; 19401 Middletown Rd., Parkton, MD 21120 with a funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s memory to The Wilmer Eye Institute at John Hopkins; 600 N. Wolfe St., Baltimore, MD 21287.
