James "Jim" R. Morris

d. February 6, 2025

James R. “Jim” Morris, age 77, died on February 6, 2025 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center after an insurmountable battle with Covid, influenza, and pneumonia. He was the widower of the late, great, Jane G. Morris to whom he was married for 32-years. Born November 5, 1947, in Fawn Grove, Pa., he was the son of the late Rolland and Jean (Wiley) Morris; brother to T. Richard “Dick” Morris and wife, Eleanor; and brother to Robert “Bob” Morris and wife, Beverly. He attended Kennard-Dale High School, Class of 1965 and graduated from Penn State University, Class of 1969. Jim was a member of Fawn United Methodist Church, Mason-Dixon Hunt Club, and Friendship Lodge. He was more widely known for his role as the stoic mechanic and owner of Fawn Grove Service Station. When the conditions were right, he enjoyed golfing in the church league at Pleasant Valley with his late uncle, Russ Morris, but could more commonly be found doing endless yard work, helping Bob with projects on the farm, or hitting car shows with Ronnie. In his younger days, he assisted Cousin Jim Marstellar with his extensive research on Uncle Everette's WWII crash site. While not commonly known, he was an artist in mediums including watercolor, oil paint, and more recently, acrylic. He primarily enjoyed the styles of N.C. Wyeth and Charles Russell. He also possessed a painfully extensive collection of antique cameras. He loved the American West enough to overcome his distaste for the airport and fly to Jackson Hole, WY to visit brother, Dick and family. He more recently resided at Hart Heritage Estates due to dementia, where he fiddled with the thermostat, enjoyed his visits with Linda and Connie, and escaped every week by the bottomless kindness of his brother Bob & his wife, Bev.

Jim is survived by his three children, son Tom and his wife, Alexis of Shrewsbury; and two fantastic daughters, Ann M. Morris of Baltimore, Md., and Marilyn Morris (partner, Stephen Kurtz) of Jarrettsville, Md. His grandchild, Nyssa of Shrewsbury, is a budding equestrian and he has loved being a part of the lives of his great nieces and nephews at Morris Family Farm.

He was awaited in the great beyond by his parents, wife, aunts and uncles, old friends, his ‘68 GTO, and beloved dog, Olive.
