James Louis Kerns, passed away on December 29, 2022. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James and Dorothy (Goeb) Kerns. Jim was married for 56 years to Linda L. (Coriell) Kerns.
Jim was a Navy Veteran and a Decorated Baltimore County Police Officer, who retired after 18 years of faithful service. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling in a league. Jim loved to work in his garden and spent many hours cultivating his plants and vegetables, he especially loved his fig trees. His true passion was spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Linda; 4 children, Janette Cramer (Stephen), Dennis Kerns (Jessica), Elizabeth Snyder (Rob), and James “Jay” Kerns; 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; sisters, Patricia Swartz and Joyce Holste (Douglas); and many extended family members.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 3 rd at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA, 17349, from 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm- 9:00 pm. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 4 th , at Mason Dixon Baptist Church, 713 Campbell Rd., New Freedom, PA, 17349, from 9:00 am – 10:00 am, with a funeral service beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow the service in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 E. Padonia Rd., Timonium, MD 21093. www.HartensteinCares.com
