James R. Nelson, 80, of Freeland, MD passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021. He was born in Mount Rose, West Virginia, on May 5, 1941 to the late, Russel Everett and Josephine O. (Biller) Nelson. James was the loving husband of Agnes A. Nelson of Freeland, MD; to whom he was married 58 years on June 1st. In addition to his wife, Agnes; James is survived by his daughter, Amy Michelle; two granddaughters, Sierra Faith and Madison Hope; son-in-law, Slade; and two brothers, Richard and Ronald Nelson; and additional family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael James Nelson in 2004 and his five siblings, Dorothy, Everett “Bub,” Audrey, Edith, and Donald. James worked for the Maryland Department of Transportation, State Highway Administration as a Highway Engineer. He was active at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Parkton, MD and active in the Knights of Columbus; serving as a Grand Knight. “James was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an overall wonderfuland giving person who touched everyone’s heart that he ever met.We will miss his shinning presence in our lives.” The family will be planning a Celebration of Life at a future date.
