James G. Olszewski

James Olszewski, of New Freedom, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, at the age of 73.

Jimmy was born on January 20, 1951, in Baltimore, the son of Thomas and Ethel Olszewski. He grew up in a close-knit family and into a passion for all things outdoors…hunting, fishing, crabbing and even tending to his yard.

He met the love of his life, Connie, as a teenager and they shared 53 years of marriage together, raising a loving and tightly bound family of their own that included four children and eight grandchildren who were the pride and center of Jim’s life.

He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for over 40 years.  Most recently driving for Classic Carriers of Versailles, Ohio,  Jim logged countless miles across the country and left a legacy of dedication, reliability and love for the open road. He will be long and fondly remembered in the vast trucking community.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Connie and their children, Rebecca Cartwright (David), Jessica Hensler (Jacob), Jamie Wipkowski (David) and Bruce Olszewski (Brittany) as well as their grandchildren, Sydney, Laina, Maxwell, Lucas, Patterson, Violet, Remi & Crew. He is also survived by two siblings, Marge Meier & Joe Olszewski while he will join his older brother, Tom in heaven.

Services to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc, 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349.  Viewing and visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 28 from 6-8 pm and Saturday, June 29 from 9-11 am with a funeral liturgy to immediately follow.

Jimmy will forever remain in our hearts, remembered for his unique wisdom, his humor and willingness to help anyone he knew with anything he had. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
