Jane G. Herbert

Jane G. Herbert, 87, of New Freedom passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at her home. Born in Baltimore, MD she was a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Sara Jane (Carter) Hudson. Jane was a life member of the New Freedom VFW and was a very active member of Bentley Springs United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was raising her five sons in Bentley Springs, MD and her family. Jane was a mother to many and she enjoyed dancing, the Orioles, bowling, playing cards, knitting and bluegrass music. She is survived by her five sons William M. Herbert and wife Cynthia, John K. Herbert and wife Candy, Joseph A. Herbert, J. Douglas Herbert and wife Cathy and Jeffrey W. Herbert, Sr. and wife Donna Lyn; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three siblings Jimmy Hudson, Jerry Hudson and Janet Gladle. Jane was preceded in death by five siblings Wilford Higgs, Marian Jestes, John Hudson, Joe Hudson and Donald Hudson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11am from Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom with Rev. Fred Sipes officiating. Interment will follow in Stabler’s Cemetery. Viewings will be held Friday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
