Jane E. Hershner

Jane Elizabeth Hershner (nee Stump), age 86, passed away at Rest Haven Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in York, PA, on Friday, October 6, 2023. Jane, the daughter of the late Lawrence Stump and Georgianna (McCleary) Stump, was born on March 13, 1937, in York. She graduated from William Penn High School in 1955, and from University of Pennsylvania in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Jane married Franklin Richey Hershner on September 27, 1959, at Zion United Church of Christ in York. She worked as a nurse at York Hospital, retiring in 1973. Jane enjoyed reading, dog walking, watching baseball games, and attending her son’s and grandchildren’s sports events.

Jane leaves a daughter, Christine Dunkinson, wife of Norman G. Dunkinson IV, and a son, Mark Hershner, husband of Andrea (Smith) Hershner; 5 grandchildren, Karli Ginther, wife of Collin Ginther, Reid Hershner, Drew Hershner, Megan Hershner, and Asher Dunkinson; great-granddaughter, Sydney Ginther, and great-grandson, Nash Ginther.

A public visitation will be held at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. 19 S. Main St. Stewartstown, PA 17363 on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 10-11am. A memorial service will begin at 11am at the funeral home. Jane and her husband will be interred privately following the service.
