Jane Mueller (Sofinowski)

Jane (Sofinowski) Mueller passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 with her husband by her side. She was the wife of Joseph P. Mueller, Jr. A public visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, June 21 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. A private interment will be held for family members on Saturday, June 25. Jane was born on March 24, 1963 in Baltimore, MD to the late Edwin and Jocine (Atkinson) Sofinowski. Most recently, she was a math teacher at C. Milton Wright High School in Harford County. She previously taught in the South Eastern School District where she was a school board member and also former school board president. Jane had a true passion for education-she enjoyed learning to better herself as a teacher and passing that knowledge on to her students.She earned two Masters Degrees and was working towards her doctorate. She is survived by her husband; three children, Kristen McGovern and her husband Jesse, Michelle Mueller and Joseph P. Mueller, III; two grandchildren, Adam and Lyla McGovern; and two brothers, Alan and Edwin Sofinowski. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Doris Sofinowski. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Jane's memory to The International Center for Spinal Cord Injury at Kennedy Krieger Institute.
