Jane E. Sides

Jane E. Sides (nee Shewell), 76, of Englewood, FL, passed away peacefully on Oct. 24th due to complications of a heart attack. She was the loving wife of Daniel Sides and they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on September 26, 2021. Born on February 22, 1945, in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mildred (Allison) Shewell and Arlington Shewell of Railroad, PA. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children. Amy (Sides) Pressel of York, PA, Daniel Sides, Jr. (Karen Pickel Sides) of Oxnard, CA, and Stacy (Sides) Sell of Spring Grove, PA. Her grandchildren Jessica (Jessie), Michael, Chase, Garrett, Lauren, Hannah, Victoria, Gretchen and Selena, 8 great grandchildren, her sister, Patricia Brumgard of York, PA and her sister and brother-in-law Marilyn (Sweitzer) Sides and Rodney Sides of York, PA. Jane was the Postmaster in Woolford, MD, up until her retirement. She had 33 years of experience with the United States Postal Service. Jane was a 1963 graduate of Susquehannock High School and received her degree as an Executive Secretary from Thompson College in 1965. Jane made an impact on everyone she met, especially her Girl Scout troop and Sunday School class. She was known for her lovely disposition, her patience, her love and understanding and her beautiful smile. She was a positive role model to many teens during their formative years. Jane or Janie as she was often called had a special place in her heart for all animals. She loved her church, volunteering, collecting antiques, yard sales and thrift shops. She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing games, and playing the slots. She especially loved our family vacations to Ocean City, MD every year. She was a great decorator and cook although she wouldn't agree. Most of all, nothing outshined her love for her high school sweetheart and husband, her children, her grand and great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday November 19, 2021 from 10-12 at Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church at 5890 Steltz Rd., Glen Rock, PA 17327 followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 with Rev. John Dorr officiating, graveside service, and a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Englewood United Methodist Church, 700 E.
