Janice A. Shaffer

Janice A. Shaffer, 87, of Glen Rock, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Born in York, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter to the late Lawrence M., Sr. and Miriam E. (Altland) Russell.  She was the wife of the late Irvin J. Shaffer.

Janice loved to sew. She made many blankets for homeless shelters and baby bonnets for newborns. She also enjoyed playing Bingo; attending many carnivals and basket bingo events. Janice retired from AMP/Tyco in 1998 after working there for 32 years.

Janice is survived by her four daughters, Connie Taylor and husband Brian, Peggy Costa and husband John “Mike”, Sandy Baughman, and Sharon Waller and husband Jim; two grandchildren, Justin Taylor and his wife Margaret “Meg”, and Leslie “René” Murray; four great grandchildren, Aubrey Taylor, Giovanni Taylor, Noah Murray, and Alyssa Murray; a great-great grandchild, Luka Murray; and four siblings, Ruth Anne Keeney, Thelma Russell, Carole Rebert and husband Dale, and Lawrence Russell, Jr.. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son-in-law Merle Baughman, and her grandson Jordan Taylor.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 10am-12pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349. A funeral service will start at 12pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Hospice of Hanover at https://vnahanover.org/giving/.
