JD Smith, 26, passed away doing what he loved most on Saturday, June 1, 2019, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born in York, he was the son of David J. Smith of York and Lori A. Smith of Felton. JD worked at Stewart & Tate Construction in York as an equipment operator in the Black- Top Paving Division. He was lifelong firefighter and previous Captain, volunteering with Leo Independent Fire Engine Co. No. 1 in Red Lion since 2016 and several others.He attended both Kennard-Dale High School and York County School of Technology; where he enjoyed running cross country and playing football. JD was a true outdoorsman with a love for hunting, riding motocross dirt bikes and his motorcycle. In addition to his parents, JD’s memory will be cherished by his two sisters Megan Smith and her daughter Avery of West York and Sara Smith and her daughter Serenity of Felton; paternal grandparents William Smith of Mt. Cobb and the late Rose Smith; maternal grandparents Yvonne Lauer of Winterstown and the late Richard Lauer; and his rescued four legged friend, Bella. Family and friends are invited to avisitation from 1:00- 2:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Freedom Biker Church; 2550 Pine Grove Rd., York, PA 17403.
