Jeffrey L. Reider

Jeffrey L. Reider, 78, of Red Lion, unexpectedly passed away at home on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Born in York, PA, he was a son to the late Llewellyn C. and Gloria D. (Kinard) Reider. He was the loving partner for over 27 years to Sandra L. Smith.

Jeff was a graduate of Red Lion High School and then joined the Army; serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Beagle Club, Corvette Club of Shrewsbury, Wood Carvers Club of York, and the American Legion Post #543 of Red Lion. Jeff was also the owner of Bowman’s Ice Cream in Shrewsbury and worked in Lancaster’s main Post Office location. He loved being outdoors; hiking the Appalachian Mountain trails, bird watching-especially hummingbirds, meticulously planning and planting his flowers each year, and watching the wildlife that would go through his yard. Jeff also loved his animals, his Beagles, and his bird, enjoyed rooting for the Flyers and watching NASCAR.

He is remembered by his partner, Sandy; step-daughter, Nicole Smith-Zeigler (Jason); granddaughter, Azlynn; sister, Denise “Dee” (Tom) Kerr; brother, Clay (Kathy) Reider; nieces, Courtney (Mitch) Howell and their son Logan, Nicole (Aaron) Biser and their daughter Charlotte, Krista Kerr and her partner Shawn; great-niece, Lillian (Gabrielle) Kerr.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, April 3 from 11am-12pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 S. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349. The funeral service will begin at 12 PM at the funeral home and interment will take place immediately following the service in Joseph Giesey Cemetery in Shrewsbury. Memorial Contributions may be made to an organization of your choice in Florida to help save the Manatees.
