Joan E. Collins, 82, of Stewartstown, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021. She was the loving wife of John W. Collins Sr. and they celebrated 60 years of marriage together. Born in Yonkers, NY, to the late Edward A. and Angeline E. (Kunic) Stanley, Joan was a graduate of Danbury High School and St. Vincent’s College, School of Nursing. She was a Registered Pediatric Nurse at Danbury Hospital for many years and also worked at the Arthritis Association of CT and NY. As a resident of NY, CT, and PA through the years, Joan was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in New Freedom and St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church of New Fairfield, CT. Surviving in addition to her beloved husband are 3 children, Susan E. Kessler of Stewartstown, John W. Collins Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Coventry, CT, and Caroline R. Collins and her partner, Polly Thibodeau , of Arlington, VA; 6 grandchildren, Sean E., Elizabeth S., Mary E., John William III, Brenna A., and David T.; 4 great grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Richard N. Collins of Oakville, CT, and Arthur T. Smallwood of Stratford, CT. Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda M. Covington, who died in 1997. There will be a Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. Monday, April 12, at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom, PA17349.
