Joann Beck

JoAnn Beck, age 66, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

She was the beloved wife of Dean R. Hershey, together they would have celebrated 10 years of marriage in May.

Born in Baltimore, MD, JoAnn was the daughter of the late William F. and Elizabeth M. (German) Beck. JoAnn worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield and Williams Lea LLC; with 40 years of service prior to retiring as a National Business & Pricing Analyst in January 2019. She was passionate about photography, acrylic and watercolor painting, dancing, running, hiking, volunteering, concerts and listening to music of many genres. She loved time spent with her best girlfriends, moments with family and trips with her husband.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her two children, Rachel Elizabeth Beck Holland (Jeff) and Zachary David Beck Holland (Jackie); two children by marriage, Nicole Hershey Snyder and Leah Hershey Sergent (Charles); grandchildren, Graham, Violet and Bailey as well as step grandchildren, Noah Shannon, Hunter Snyder, Bella and Charlie Sergent; siblings, Mary Graham Jazayeri (Mehdi) and Alfred Foster Graham. She was predeceased by her loving sister Nancy Beck Czerski (Dave). She also is survived by beloved nieces, nephews and their children.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service starting at 5 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Friendly Farms Restaurant, 17434 Foreston Road, Upperco, MD 21155. Social time will be 5 – 6 PM. The Service will start at 6 PM and end around 7 PM. There will be a private dinner that follows for the family. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
