John L. Ennis, 72, of New Freedom passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, with his wife, Cathi, and children, Jim Ennis and Nikki Ennis Griggs, by his side. Born in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the late Leonard and Josephine (Buragino) Ennis.He graduated from Patapsco High School in Baltimore, Maryland, and Johns Hopkins University.John was a purchasing manager for McCormick & Co. and also Saft, Inc. John was very involved in his family, church and community.His children and grandsons were the heart of his life.He loved spending time with them, going on vacation, playing games and reading to them. John was a Boy Scout, Sea Scout leader and a coach and referee for the Mason Dixon Soccer League.John was involved in many committees at both Trinity United Methodist and Grace United Methodist churches.He was the owner and instructor of a local martial arts school since 1983.His most recent affiliation was with Ryu Pa Karate in Shrewsbury.He enjoyed playing his guitar.He enjoyed playing games with family and friends.John was a Corvette enthusiast and belonged to the local York County Corvette Club. He is survived by his wife, Cathi, son Jim, daughter Nikki and her husband Alex.He is survived by four grandsons: Talen, Kincaid, Oliver, and Edison, and a stepgrandson, Alex.He is also survived by his brother George and sister Donna, two nieces and a nephew. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.A celebration of life will be held at a later date where family and friends are welcome to join us to share memories.
