John Joseph Hamilton, Jr.

John Joseph Hamilton, 78, of Stewartstown, PA died Saturday January 6th, 2024.

He was born on September 21st, 1945, in Dallas, Texas. He was the oldest of 5 children born to the late John and Margaret (Maloney) Hamilton.

He was the husband to Carol (Schaedel) with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Stacey Splain of Felton, PA and Megan Fifer and husband, Sean of Delta, PA, his grandchildren, Rachael, Katlyn, Kirsten, Mikaela, Donald and Maggie, great grandchildren, Taylor and Owen. One brother, Paul Hamilton and wife, Karen, two sisters, Margaret Hamilton and Nancy Fava and her husband, Ron and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by brother, Robert Hamilton and daughter, Jennifer Bell.

John graduated from Calvert Hall High school in 1963. He continued his education at Towson State University and Western Maryland College where he graduated with a master’s degree in education.

He taught English and Reading for over 30 years. In the final years of his career, he was a commercial real-estate agent working with economic development in Baltimore City.

John loved racing old Volvos. He and Carol spent many weekends traveling the country to compete in SCCA Hillclimb competitions and vintage road racing, making many friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
