John Harold Raffensparger

John Harold Raffensparger, Sr., 84, of Parkton, MD, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021. He was born in Hershey, PA, on October 7, 1937 to the late Samuel Lloyd and Laura L. (Stambaugh) Raffensparger. John was the loving husband of Dixie Lee (Baublitz) Raffensparger of Parkton, MD with whom he shared 57 years of marriage, on October 24th. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hampstead, MD; member of Church Council and Ministry Assistant. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving from 1956- 1959. He worked for the former Reymar Manufacturing in Baltimore, MD for 30 years from 1959 -1989, serving as President for 22 years. He retired in 2007 from MOSHA after 16 years of service. John was a member of the American Legion, Post 174 in Timonium; member of the Experimental Aircraft Assoc. and NRA. He loved airplanes, rail trains and cars, was proud owner of a Studebaker Hawk, and known author of a novel and his autobiography. John is survived by his wife Dixie;son, John H. Raffensparger, Jr. and his wife Karen of MD; daughter, Laura Lee Becker and her husband Thomas of SC; two granddaughters, Jennifer Lee and Kara Nicole. There will be a viewing on Thursday, October 28th at 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM -8:00 PM from Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St. New Freedom, PA 17349. A funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 29th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Peter’s Lutheran Church; 4300 Church Rd., Hampstead, MD 21074.
