John Bennett Scott, Sr. was called to the great sea above with the Lord on June 10, 2021. While his time on land was shortened, his memories and legacy will not be forgotten. John joins his mother, Barbara Scott; brother, Jeffrey Scott; and family dogs Roxy and Ginger. Dad, Pop-pop, and the “Love of my life — River Rat” will be missed deeply by his fiancé, Beverly Poe; son, John Scott, Jr.; daughter in law, Susan Scott; and so ever loved granddaughter, Ella Scott. John is survived by his proud father, Robert Scott, sister's Barbara Ivey and Delores Nieberlein, his step daughter, Katelyn Poe and her children Caleb and Sadie; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that have become family. Born on November 19, 1962, John became an honorary Captain with Eastern Yacht Club at the age of 10, seeing a distressed boat trying to get to dock, young and fearless John jumped in his little 10’ wooden boat built by John and his father to rescue and dock the distressed yacht. John journeyed the waters from Middle River, the Bay, to Ocean City. He was a skilled mechanic and machinist, building cars and boats much of his life. Living life in the fast lane, he taught his son how to turn wrenches, restoring Big Blue and his Hydrostream. His shipmate, Beverly, always navigating the shores alongside. John was a legacy truck driver, never a load too big that he couldn’t haul, traveling the US with his young son for years. Later in life, John accomplished the best of his legacy, becoming Pop-pop. A celebration of life will be held privately by the family.
