John "Rick" Smith

John R. (Rick) Smith, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022.  He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on October 2, 1942 to the late John W. and Martha (Given) Smith. He celebrated 35 years of marriage with Judi Giberson-Smith on April 9, 2022.

Rick worked for Will Scientific in Ohio and then  for VWR Scientific in Maryland as an office manager and then a sales representative for 25 years.  He sold laboratory equipment and supplies to organizations like small laboratories, colleges and universities, food manufacturers like Hershey and wastewater treatment facilities.

His passion was cars from the time he was in high school.  From a Mustang to a restored 1975 MGB.  He belonged to LANCO MG Club and participated in many of the British car events exhibiting his MGB and often winning awards.

He is survived by his wife, Judi.  His daughter, Christy Heisey, her husband, Scott and grandson, Spencer. His cousin, Forrest  Sparrow.   Also, his stepdaughters, Sue Dockstader and Christine Dockstader-Ritter.  As well as several cousins and their families.
