Jonathan Andrew Shanberger, 34, died Thursday, June 23, 2016, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was the son of George and Lucille (Herbert) Shanberger of Fawn Grove. A visitation will be held from 1 PM until 3 PM Thursday, June 30, at the Fawn United Methodist Church, 67 S. Market St., Fawn Grove, PA, 17321. The funeral service will begin at 3 PM with the Rev. David Stough officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery, followed by fellowship and a luncheon. Born March 23, 1982, in York, Jon graduated from the Kennard-Dale High School in Fawn Grove. He started working in the grocery store business at the age of 15 at Tom's Super Thrift in Cardiff, MD. He continued working in the grocery business for many years to follow and that is where his love of customer service began. His last job in that field was at Weis Markets in York where he was a frozen foods manager. At the time of his passing he was the co- owner and co-operator of Spring Valley Park, Inc., also known as Shanberger’s Pool, a family business that he owned along with his sister. He always took such pride in the pool, finding so much joy in talking to his customers each day. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, engaging in fierce competition with his family and friends during the season. Jon's children meant the world to him, and his memory will continue to live on through them as well as the rest of the family. Surviving in addition to his parents are two children, Dylan Shanberger and Kaitlyn Shanberger of Fawn Grove; two siblings, Tina M. Hildreth of Fawn Grove and her significant other, Randy Jordan of Freeland, MD, and Douglas and Stacey Shanbergerof Fawn Grove; the mother of his children, Kimberly Kilgore of Delta; nieces and nephews, Jessica Gotti and her husband Anthony, Thomas Hildreth and his fiancée Therese Hebert, Kirsten Shanberger and Logan Shanberger; great-nieces and great-nephews, Mackenzie Hildreth, Avery Gotti, Thomas Major Hildreth, Desiree Cook, and Timothy Cook; step-nieces and step-nephews, Austin, Taylor, Micah, Abby, Billie, and Bobbie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Olivia's House, A Grief & Loss Center for Children, 830 S. George St., York, PA 17403 or to Fawn United Methodist Church at the address above.
