Joseph A. Hittel

On December 30, 2016, Joseph A. Hittel died at SpiriTrust Lutheran in Shrewsbury. He was the husband of June L. (Schrufer) Hittel for 69 years. Public viewing will be held from 1 pm until a funeral begins at 3 pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. Interment is private. Rev. Robert A. Yohe, Jr. will officiate. Joe was plant manager for Crown, Cork and Seal, where he retired in 1984 after 36 years of service. A WWII veteran, he also served in the US Army and also was a member of the Parkville American Legion, Post #183. He is survived by his wife; children, Ronald J. "Ron" Hittel and wife Cheri and Mary F. Christ and Husband Tim; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marie Bruder and Angela Waclawski.
