Judith Lynn (Coomes) Yelton of Glen Rock, came to rest in Jesus on January 9, 2022. Born on November 30, 1939, in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Julia K. (Stambaugh) Coomes and Harry G. Coomes. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Coomes and Jay Coomes, and her daughter Cheryl A. (Yelton) Wisner-Gardner.She is survived by the man she cared for most, her husband of 65 years, Robert L. Yelton, her sister, Constance Folkenroth, wife of Larry Folkenroth, her children:James Yelton, husband of Helen, Timothy Yelton, husband of Renee, Kimberly Ness, wife of Bryan Ness, and Jennifer Menges, wife of Christopher Menges. As well as her grandchildren: Mandy, Sarah, Amy, Bryan II, Bradley, Steven, Rachael and Jessica and by her ten great grandchildren. Judy embraced her life with dignity and grace. Most important to her was her family. Judy enjoyed a good book, a good bargain and loved a good piece of dark chocolate with almonds. She was incredibly creative and talented.Over the years she decorated many cakes for all occasions for friends and family.Birthdays were celebrated with special serenades of “Happy Birthday” sung in her beautiful soprano. Her potato salad was the stuff of legends and everything she did was created with love. She was a very giving woman and her ability to remember details and make her loved ones feel special and cared for was unsurpassed. She was kind and generous and no one ever left her home hungry or wanting. Our loss is great, but because of who she was and how she helped shape us, we can carry on knowing she’s not gone forever, just waiting to call us to dinner at the table. Her legacy will live on in her children, grandchildren and every life she touched. “Her children arise up, and call her blessed….favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman who feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Proverbs 31:28, 30-31. If you wish to make a contribution in her memory, please provide a family in need with food, clothing, or financial assistance.
