Judy Elaine Wherley (Winemiller)

On Sunday, August 12, 2018, Judy E. Wherley, 67, passed away at home with family by her side.She was the loving wife of Henry A. Wherley.She was born February 6, 1951 in Shrewsbury to Richard E. and Doris (Walker) Winemiller. A 1969 graduate of Susquehannock High School, Judy went on to work for Verizon as an engineering assistant until she retired in 2001.She was a member and choir member of New Hope (Fissel’s) United Church of Christ in Glen Rock; the church representative for the Southern York County Pantry; and she was the team leader of Hopes Angels Relay for Life.Judy had an immense love for animals and she also enjoyed gardening and traveling. She is survived by her husband; parents, Richard E. and Doris (Walker) Winemiller; 2 sons, Jonathan and Timothy Wherley; one grandchild, Isabella Wherley; and four siblings, Terry and Robert Winemiller, Lisa Wentz and Nancy Glatfelter. A public viewing will be held from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday, August 16 at Hartenstein Funeral and Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom.A funeral service will be at 10 am on Friday, August 17 at New Hope (Fissel’s) United Church of Christ, 3426 Fissel’s Church Road, Glen Rock.Interment will be in the church cemetery.Rev. Julian E. Hall will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are recommended to the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
