Kasey Trent, 29, of Freeland, Maryland, passed away tragically in a car accident on March 20, 2025.
A beloved son, devoted brother, and loyal friend, Kasey was the light and heart of his mother, Zhanna Dalsheimer’s life. He was the cherished son of Steven Trent of Pylesville, Maryland, and the loving stepson of David Dalsheimer of Freeland, Maryland. More than just a big brother to Dylan Dalsheimer, 15, and Sophia Trent, 25, Kasey was their protector, mentor, hero, and best friend. He had a special gift for making people feel safe and valued, extending his warmth and guidance beyond his family to Dylan’s friends, whom he often took under his wing. Whether organizing trips to the movies, going to the state fair, sharing his deep knowledge and passion for cars, enjoying long drives in his prized BMW, or simply hanging out, Kasey embraced the role of big brother not just to Dylan and Sophia, but to an entire circle of young friends who looked up to him with admiration and gratitude. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his love and influence will live on in the lives he touched.
Born on November 21, 1995, in Towson, Maryland, Kasey packed a lifetime of adventure, love, and laughter into his 29 years. He had an infectious laugh, a sharp wit, and a heart full of kindness. A true gearhead, Kasey found joy in anything with an engine. He felt most alive snowboarding in the mountains, running through the fresh air, working outdoors, or getting lost in epic video game marathons with his friends. He had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys—grabbing a burger at Five Guys, making a pit stop at Rutter’s, or sharing laughter with his family at the dinner table.
But beyond his love for adventure, Kasey’s greatest role was that of a devoted big brother, best friend, and proud son. As her firstborn, Kasey gave Zhanna her most precious title—Mom. They were inseparable partners, facing life’s challenges with unwavering love and devotion. Their bond was unbreakable, filled with joy, pride, and a deep understanding that words could never fully express.
A fighter in every sense, Kasey overcame a rare cerebrovascular condition with extraordinary resilience after undergoing a complex neurosurgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center. His recovery was nothing short of miraculous, and he embraced life’s second chapter with renewed passion, gratitude, and an even greater appreciation for time spent with his loved ones.
Kasey is survived by his loving parents, Zhanna and David Dalsheimer; his adoring father, Steven Trent; his cherished younger brother, Dylan Dalsheimer; his beloved sister, Sophia Trent; and a wide circle of extended family and lifelong friends. He also leaves behind his much-loved dogs, Hazel (his Shiba Inu) and Maddie, who were his constant companions.
A celebration of Kasey’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second Street, New Freedom, PA 17349.
