Lance Sutton Sr. aged 74, of Parkton, MD passed away on July 17, 2018 after a brief struggle with pneumonia. He was surrounded by his loving family. Lance was born to Charles W. Sutton of Conesus, NY and Dorothy Sutton of Baltimore, MD. He is pre-deceased by his parents, his younger brother Eugene and his older brother Charles (Sonny) Sutton. Lance served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps and received a Bronze Star for his valiant service during the Vietnam War. He was also very proud of his Native American Heritage as his father Charles was a full blood Seneca Indian.He loved attending Indian pow wows and gave generously to various Native American Indian charities. Lance is survived by three children - sons Lance Sutton, Jr. of White Hall, Maryland and Gregory Sutton and his wife Scarlett of Felton Pennsylvania, and daughter Jennifer D. Akins and her husband Brandan of Jarrettsville, Maryland. Lance is also survived by two grandsons, Ryan and Cole Akins, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. In celebration of his life, a memorial service will be held at Hartenstein Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Inc.; 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, Pa. on August 4th. Visitation will begin at 11 am with a service immediately following at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School; 1301 North Main Street Chamberlain, SD 57325.
