Larry Lee Mummert, 71, of New Freedom went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. He was the loving husband of Denise D. (Russell) Mummert whom he married on September 20, 1980 celebrating 37 years. Born May 15, 1947 in Hanover, he was the son of the late William H. and Edna (Phillips) Mummert. He had a successful career working at Tyco in Harrisburg and Lockheed Martin in Middle River, MD for many years. He was a United States Airforce Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. Larry will be remembered as loving Christian husband, father and grandfather who always supported his family. Larry was fully present in both his sons’ lives and cherished spending time playing with his two grandsons. He also liked to exercise and go to dinner with family and friends. In addition to his wife, Denise, he leaves to treasure his memory, two sons Jonathan William Mummert and his wife Vanessa and Joseph David Mummert and his wife Leah; two grandsons Bentley William Mummert and Silas Joseph Mummert; a brother Eugene Mummert and his wife Claudia; 3 sisters Nancy Nardis and her husband Don, Joyce Zepp, and Gail Plitt and her husband Nelson; many nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 6-8 p.m.at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church Shrewsbury; 74 East Forrest Ave., Shrewsbury, PA 17361 with Rev. Mark Fair officiating.Interment will follow at Joseph Giesey Memorial Cemetery with a flag folding ceremony provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard.
