Linda D. Schmalzer, age 76, passed away at her home in Parkton, MD, on Thursday, June 16, 2022. Linda was born on August 28, 1945, in Parkersburg, WV, to the late Kenneth D. and Katherine (DiBetta) Davis. She was the loving wife of the late William J. Schmalzer, III. Until retirement, Linda worked as a secretary in an orthodontist’s office. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Freedom, PA where she often served as a Lector and Usher. With her late husband Bill, Linda co-founded The Lord’s Lunch, a community kitchen run out of the church.Linda loved and will be greatly missed by her church family. She was also a lifetime member of the Maryland Line Volunteer Fire Company in Northern Baltimore County where she was a key member of the scholarship committee and also served on the Board. In her free time, Linda was a Notary Public and also enjoyed reading, knitting, and traveling. Linda is survived by her loving children; June Main (Melvin), William J. Schmalzer IV(Lisa Squezello), Mimi Ashbaugh (Chris), Mark Coulbourne (Jennifer Fitzgerald) and Kelly Coulbourne; adoring grandchildren, Angela, Christine, Lauren (Tim Felix), Jocelynn, Yva Marie (Eric Kuster), Nathan (Christina), Jordan, and Ashley; dear great grandchildren, Brandon, Cameron, Luke, Noah, Dylan, Madisyn, Emily, Abigail, Jeremiah, Lillian, and Hunter. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a twin sister, Anna Margaret, who died at birth. Public viewings will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm. A funeral liturgy will be held at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 175 E. Main St., New Freedom, PA, 17349 on Monday, June 20, 2022, beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow in Stabler’s Cemetery, 1233 Stablers Church Rd., Parkton, MD 21120. In lieu of flowers, donations, may be made in Linda’s name to The Lord’s Lunch, c/o St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church or Guiding Eyes for the Blind, www.guidingeyes.org.
