Lois May Paules, 81, of New Freedom, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023.
Born on May 4, 1941 in York, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Mary M. (Hardwick) Decker. She was the loving wife of Daryl Weston Paules of New Freedom, celebrating 63 years of marriage, June 27.
Lois’ life was devoted to caring for her husband and family as a homemaker. She graduated from West York High School class of 1959. She worked for Crescent Industries in New Freedom in the secretarial department. Lois served the Lord in many ways. For years she has prayerfully channeled family resources to efficient Christian ministries that serve as the hands and feet of Jesus in our time. This includes eight ministries that emphasize the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of one's life plus ministering to one's physical needs during disasters and hunger. Lois visited the elderly for whom she had a special Christian love. She was known to her family as a gentle and kind woman who loved her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was great at finding almost anything; lost items, four-leaf clovers, and especially wildlife. She enjoyed helping her husband go hunting and fishing. Together they traveled countless times to Montana, and explored immeasurably throughout Yellowstone Park and the Grosfield ranches north of the Yellowstone River.
In addition to her husband Daryl, she was blessed with two children Brian Paules and Eric Paules and his wife Karen; four grandchildren Anna and her husband Julio, Lauren, Ethan and his wife Alexis, Brendan and his wife Erin; brother James (Kathy); two sisters June (Carl) and Doris (Rick). She was preceded in death by her parents, great-granddaughter Cana Paules, daughter-in-law Nina Paules, half-sister Gloria (Gene), half-brother Russell (Mary Ann) and half-brother Lloyd (Dolly).
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you for the support and care from Hospice and Community Care and from the Pappus House, a fantastic facility in which they were made to feel at home.
