Lorraine A. Simon, age 102, passed away peacefully at her residence in White Hall, Maryland on January 4th.She was the loving wife of 47 years to the late Brantley E. Simon.Born on October 30, 1919 in Baltimore County, Maryland to the late Millard & Mary (Badders) Almony. Lorraine worked in retail stores, a sewing factory, and in Manufacturing for Black & Decker, where she retired from, after 17 years of service.Her most important role was that of mother and housewife. She loved putting together puzzles, reading, doing crossword puzzles and word searches. Lorraine loved spotting cardinals, as they were her favorite bird. She was proud to start the food pantry at Ayres Chapel United Methodist Church, appropriately named, “Lorraine’s Pantry”, that has helped many families in the community. Lorraine is survived by her dear children, Patricia A. McAllister, Louise Douglas, Roger Simon (Pat), Minnette Klunk, Esther L. Ferren, Donna Holmes (Clyde) and Marty Simmons (Robin); 23 adoring grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; 34 great- great grandchildren (and a couple on the way); her loving sister, Phyllis Snelson; she is predeceased by her 2 children; Brantely E. Simon, Jr. and June M. Hill;5 siblings, Arthur Almony, Marvin Almony,Annalee Wright, Frances Wright and Roberta Neal; 3 son in laws, Donald McAllister, Gilbert Douglas, and Richard Klunk, as well as, 6 grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 11th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main Street, Stewartstown, PA 17363. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm, with interment immediately following at Ayres Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Norrisville Rd., White Hall, MD 21161. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lorraine’s name may be made to Ayres Chapel UMC, 130 Carea Rd. New Park, PA 17352.
