L. Calvin Lockard, Jr.

Louis Calvin Lockard, Jr., known to his loved ones as Calvin, peacefully passed away on April 9, 2024, in Manchester, Maryland, at the age of 83. He was born on June 24, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Louis Calvin Lockard, Sr. and Ruth Katherine Zimmerer.

Calvin graduated from Patterson High School in Baltimore, MD, and went on to work as an Assessor for the State of Maryland for 25 years. His true passions, however, lay in his hobbies, which included collecting Maryland state license plates, classic cars, race cars, fire trucks, and trains. He also enjoyed football, baseball, and playing cards with his friends.

Calvin was a devoted husband to his wife of 57 years, Sandra Mildred Lockard (Ekholm), and a loving father to his sons Frederick Joseph, Louis Calvin III (Rae), and Gunnar John (Debbie). He cherished his grandchildren, Caitlin and Jessica, and his many cousins.

Calvin's playful spirit, sarcastic sense of humor, and unyielding strength in the face of challenges will forever inspire those who knew him. He loved spending time with his family, playing cards, drinking Pepsi, and indulging in sweets during family gatherings.

Family and friends are invited to attend the services to honor Calvin's life on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at St. Paul's Church in Manchester, MD (5010 St. Paul's Rd). A family viewing will be held from 11AM to 12PM, followed by a public viewing from 12PM to 2PM, and a memorial service from 2PM to 3PM. A luncheon will take place in the Fellowship Hall after the interment.

In memory of Calvin's love for animals, the family kindly requests that donations be made to an animal shelter of your choice in his honor in lieu of flowers.
