Lowell A. Wallace passed away peacefully at his home on September 21st, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of 66 years to Gardenia L. (Tampsett) Wallace.Lowell was born in Long Level, Pennsylvania to the late Ralph H. and Anna C. (Kline) Wallace. Lowell graduated from Red Lion High School in 1949 and completed his college degree in 1954 from Millersville State Teachers College. He taught at Susquehannock High School for 38 years as their Industrial Arts teacher. His expertise was woodworking, metal shop, and printing. His passion for woodworking was evident in his home, building furniture and other wood décor. In addition to woodworking, he was a talented weaver on a hand loom. In his younger years, he played baseball with the Conrad’s Baseball team in the Susquehanna League. He loved rooting for the Phillies, Orioles, and the Old Philadelphia Athletics.Lowell was very involved in the New Freedom Community, including the JayCee’s, Rose Company Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Department and was the Director of the Summer Playground, where he taught many of his skills to young children. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Evangelical Church in New Freedom. In addition to his wife, Gardenia, he is survived by his children; Robin S. Smeltzer and her husband, Kent H., Kathy A. Wallace and her husband, Kenneth Greer, and Lowell A. Wallace, Jr. and his wife, Yolanda R.; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; he was pre-deceased by his sister, Betty V. Detwiler; also survived by many nieces and nephews.He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the convenience of the family.
