Margaret Mary Pergrin (Cimahosky)

October 9, 1919 — January 3, 2018

Margaret Mary Cimahosky Pergrin, 98, died in Shrewsbury on January 3, 2018. Born on October 9, 1919 to Alexander and Mary Mozelewski Cimahosky of Pleasant Mount, she graduated first in her class from Pleasant Mount High School. She earned a B.S. in Biology from the Penn State University, graduating with honors in 1940. On September 19 1941, she married her true love, David Edward Pergrin. During World War II, she worked for Merck Pharmaceuticals to develop mosquito repellant for wartime use. Her arm was featured in a television ad for the repellant known as 6-12. After the war, she contracted polio. With determination and her husband's support, she was able to walk again. Peg managed the packing and house sales that occurred frequently as Dave moved up the ladder at the Pennsylvania Railroad. Her five children were blessed by her practicality and sense of humor. Peg was a caring mother, grandmother, friend and avid volunteer. We know she will continue her daily prayers for all of us from heaven. She is survived by her daughter, Bernadette of Mt. Pleasant, SC, her daughter, Patricia of Frederick MD, her daughter, Janeen of Marquette Ml, her daughter Margaret Ann of Gainesville GA; and her son, David of Shrewsbury; along with grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the historic St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 315 N. Constitution Ave, New Freedom. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St, New Freedom. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the David E. and Margaret M. Pergrin Scholarship at: Office of Development, Penn State Brandywine, 25 Yearsley Mill Rd, Media, PA 19063. The family would like to thank the staff of SpiriTrust Lutheran for their care and kindness.
