Margaret Louise (McElwain) Vinup entered her heavenly home on March 4, 2016. Margaret was born on June 10, 1924 and was the daughter of the late R. Carl and Golda (Wiley) McElwain of New Park. She was married to William B. Vinup, Jr. for 57 years at the time of his death on July 3, 2004. Margaret was a graduate of the former Fawn Grove High School and a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital Nursing School in Baltimore. She had served as the postmistress at the New Park Post Office for many years. Margaret was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning food, knitting and crocheting. She knitted sweaters, afghans and squares used to make lap robes for nursing home residents and homebound people. She would volunteer at Centre Presbyterian Church where she was a life member. Margaret coordinated and cooked the meals for the senior citizen program at the church. Margaret and her husband Bill enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and visited 48 of the 50 states. Margaret is survived by two children, Joan "Joanie" Vinup of New Park and Thomas Vinup and his wife, Pat of Felton; three nephews; three nieces; three great-nephews; eight great-nieces; and several great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her brother, R. Wiley McElwain; and her sister, Laura Elizabeth McElwain; one niece; and one nephew. A funeral service is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, with the Reverend James L. Biller officiating. Burial is in Centre Presbyterian Cemetery, New Park.
