On Sunday, December 22, 2019, Marguerite R. “Margie” Goodfellow passed away at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation in York.She was the devoted wife of the late Charles Goodfellow, Jr.She was born on August 6, 1923 in Patalaska, OH to the late Bernard H. and Frances E. (Bergman) Flynn. Margie served in the US Army during WWII as a surgical technician.She was part of the Summer Playground Program and the New Freedom Recreation Council.She had the Marge Goodfellow Park named after her, and it was dedicated to her in 2001.Margie loved gardening and was a “Railroad Gardener”, where she would plant flowers in different places along the Rail Trail.She was a member of the Daughters of America; Trinity United Methodist Church, where she also taught Sunday School for many years before transferring her membership to Grace United Methodist Church in Shrewsbury; she was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts Pack #24; she was a songwriter and loved music in general; she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Margie is survived by her children, Robert Goodfellow and wife Barbara, Richard Goodfellow and wife Karen, Rick Goodfellow and wife Debra, and Roger Goodfellow and wife Marcy; 5 grandchildren, Dana Goodfellow, Mandy Goodfellow, Ryan Goodfellow, Randi Sheeler and Bethany Watanaratkul; 2 great-grandchildren, Emily Goodfellow and Alexander Frederick.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings, Mary C. Wohlgemuth, Betty Bennet, and Robert J. Flynn. Public viewing will be Monday, December 30 from 6pm to 8pm at Hartenstein Funeral and Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 31 at 10am.Interment will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Rose Fire Company, 200 E.
