Marie Joyce Spencer, 85, took her first breath in Heaven and her last here on earth, while at her home on January 11,2023. Marie was born and raised in Presque Isle , Maine, along with her 12 siblings, and was always very proud of her roots there. As Heaven celebrates her arrival and her family welcomes her in with singing , her absence on earth is felt with great sadness. Wherever she went she left an impact, all who knew her loved her dearly.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Beatrice Jordan and 10 of her 12 siblings and is survived by her husband, David, two siblings, Stanley and Richard Jordan, daughter Pamela and her family, son Daniel and his family, and daughter Michelle and her family. She also is survived by her 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, with one more on the way. Her family was her passion and each was deeply cherished, loved and prayed for daily. They vow to carry the torch of her legacy for many generations to come.
Marie met her husband, David at Elim Bible Institute where their story began unfolding. After graduating with her diploma in Christian Ministry, the two married on March 31, 1961. The two went on to serve Jesus together all over the world in Africa, China and in their surrounding Rochester, NY community as they cared for hundreds of internationals and their families. As they served together, Marie cared for and hosted many gatherings inside the couple's home, always with a bowl of ice cream of which there were always at least six choices. Many souls were won as Marie faithfully served and shared the heart of Jesus with all she cared and prayed for throughout her ministry.
A bright light and a lover of laughter, joy followed Marie when she entered the room. Her fun- loving spirit is what so many will miss. She was in her glory when she was surrounded by her family, and there was always laughter radiating from the room.
The family will receive friends at 11am on Saturday, January 14th for a public viewing followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12pm. All gatherings will be held at Freedom Community Church, 205 South Main Street, Shrewsbury, PA.
