Marion D. Kerfoot (Vest)

April 20, 1934 — January 6, 2018

Mrs. Marion Kerfoot was born April 20, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland as Marion Deloris Vest. She grew up in Edgemere, Maryland and graduated from Sparrows Point High School. After working briefly as a bookkeeper she married the man who would be her husband until death, Ned Edwin Kerfoot, on September 21, 1957. Marion passed from this life to the next on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in York, Pennsylvania following an extended illness. She entered into the presence of the Lord Jesus at 9:45am surrounded by her loving family and was reunited with her parents, Roy and Maggie Vest, her sister, Mildred Parks, and baby brother, Robert Vest, who died in childhood. Gathered around Marion’s bedside were those she was most proud of: her children and grandchildren. Ned and Marion were blessed with four children: Steven, Sharon, Susan, and Samuel, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Steve and his wife, Tracie Kerfoot, reside in Stewartstown, PA. Steve and Tracie are the parents of three: Matthew Kerfoot (wife: Stacey, sons: Emery, Johnathan, and Jude), Sarah Beitz (husband: Seth, son: Cooper and unborn child), and Ashley Kerfoot. Sharon and her husband, Gene Cregger, live in Keymar, MD. Sharon and Gene also have three children: Rachel Mathews (husband: Adam, children: Kaylee and Carter), Julie Cowan (husband: Joe, sons: Cash and Wyatt), and Ben Cregger (wife: Samantha, daughter: Lauren and unborn child). Susan and her husband, Tim May, reside in Charles Town, WV. Susan and Tim have four children: Becky, Garrett, Ethan, and Trent May. Sam Kerfoot lives in White Hall, MD and has been a tremendous help to his father, Ned, during Marion’s lengthy hospital stay. An unwaveringly faithful and loyal woman, Marion was happily married to Ned for 60 years. She was most at home being “at home:” cooking, baking, and caring for her husband and children. Marion loved attending church, southern gospel music, and found pleasure in the simple things of life: her pets, camping in the RV, a bargain at the store, and the laughter of family gathered on holidays. Marion was an uncomplicated woman who loved the Lord and desired for her children and grandchildren to follow Christ as her husband and she had done. Marion wasn’t loud or talkative but had an undeniable ability to make her opinion clearly heard. She will be missed by all who knew her, but especially by Ned who loved her with all of his heart. Marion’s home going seemed to echo Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 4:7 ”I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” She had indeed finished well and will be ready to welcome those who follow her faith-filled path to heaven. Most certainly, “It is well, with her soul.” Viewings will be on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 3-5p.m. & 6-8p.m.at Shrewsbury Assembly of God; 234 N. Main St. Shrewsbury, PA 17361. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jason Tourville officiating. Burial will follow at High View Memorial Gardens in Fallston, MD. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to: Shrewsbury Assembly of God; 234 N. Main St. Shrewsbury, PA 17361.
