Marlene Engle Hoffmaster Bales entered into heaven to be with the Lord at 1:44 pm, March 1, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.She was the widow of C. Evans Bales. She was born on June 1, 1934 in Railroad, Pa, the beloved daughter of late Eleanor (Sweitzer) and Joseph Engle. Marlene worked as an inspector for the former Campbell Chain, now Apex Tools, of York and retired after 48 years of service. She loved her family and friends; she was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Shrewsbury, and enjoyed reading, sewing, crabbing and her many trips to Kentucky. She will be lovingly missed by her children, Chris Sauder of York, Cathy Pettit of Louisville, KY,Tedd Hoffmaster and his wife Sharon Boyd Hoffmaster of York; her stepson Charles Bales and his wife Jeannine Bales of Dover; grandchildren Travis Pettit, Josh Pettit and great-granddaughter Ava Pettit all of Louisville, KY; step grandchildren Charlie and Janelle Bales of Dover and their children; four siblings, Raye Engle, John Harrold Engle, Janet Torbertand husband Richard, and Wanda Lloyd and her husband Wayne; many nieces, nephews other family members and friends.Marlene was preceded in death by two brothers Bob and Donald Engle. There will be a Life Celebration Service at 6:00 pm Wednesday, March 7th, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA. 17349.
