Mary Doris Cornwell

Mary Doris (Heine) Cornwell, 85, died Monday, February 8, 2016, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Richard M. Cornwell. Public viewings will be held on Friday, February 12 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13 at 10 a.m. at Mason-Dixon Baptist Church, 713 Campbell Road, New Freedom 17349, with Pastor Terry Felton officiating. Interment will follow in West Liberty United Methodist Cemetery, White Hall, Md. Doris was born November 28, 1930, in Baltimore, Md., a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Eleanor (Pumphrey) Heine. Doris graduated from Patterson Park High School in 1947, then received her bachelor's degree from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 1951. She married Richard M. Cornwell in 1952, then devoted her life to raising her family. She is a longtime member of Mason-Dixon Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed singing, writing, reading, taking care of her family farm and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Doris is survived by six sons, Richard "Scott" and his wife Lonnie, Gregory S. and his wife Carol, David D. and his wife Dawn, John G. and his wife Kim, Quintin and his wife Christy, Jeff and his wife Rhonda; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Also survived by one brother, Joseph F. Heine, Jr. and his wife Louise. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mason-Dixon Baptist Church at the address above.
