Mary L. Hersey

On Sunday, December 11, 2016, Mary L. (Fager) Hersey, 82, died at York Hospital.She was the wife of the late George G. Hersey. A public viewing will be held from 1-2 pm on Thursday December 15 with a Celebration of Life Service Service to follow at the Stewartstown United Methodist Church, 26 S. Main St., Stewartstown. Interment will follow in Stewartstown Cemetery. Pastor Larry W. Parlett will officiate. Mary was born October 24, 1934 in Woodbine, PA to the late Elmer and Helen (Jamison) Fager. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, the late William B. and Ida Mae Shelly Jamison. Mary worked for Dentsply of York as a secretary until she retired. Mary spent most of her life living in Stewartstown. She was a familiar face in the community where she devoted much of her time to the Stewartstown Senior Center helping with the fundraising for the center.She was a member of the Stewartstown United Methodist Church and the Eureka Volunteer Fire Company and Ambulance Club to which she also volunteered many hours. She is survived by one sister, Betty Stambaugh and multiple nieces and nephews. The family asks that NO ROSES be sent due to a severe family allergy.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to the Eureka Volunteer Fire Company and Ambulance Club, PO Box 457, Stewartstown, PA 17363.
