Mary Jane Orwig (Kopp)

Mary Jane Orwig, 91, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, Shrewsbury. She was the wife of the late Elmer Woodrow Orwig. Viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at St. John (Sadler's) Lutheran Church, 2916 Sadler's Church Rd. Stewartstown, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. E. Gordon Ross officiating. Burial will be in the Church cemetery at a later date. Mary Jane was born December 25, 1924 in York, daughter of the late Curvin F. and Naomi (Shenberger) Kopp. She was a member of St. John (Sadler's) Lutheran Church since 1947 and a member of the Lutheran Church Women. Mary Jane was a graduate of William Penn High School, York in 1942. She attended York Junior College and graduated from York Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She was a Registered Nurse at York Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1982. Mary Jane and her late husband, Elmer relocated from Loganville to Shrewsbury in 1985. At the time of Elmer's passing, they had been married 45 years. The family would like to thank the staff at SpiriTrust Lutheran for their loving care given to Mary Jane. Survivors include daughter, Susan Jane Jacobs and husband, Carl of York; son, Philip David Orwig of Owings Mills, Md. She was predeceased by a brother, William S. Kopp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John (Sadler's) Lutheran Church, PO Box 189, Stewartstown, PA 17363. J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc. 24 N.
